Schwab Mobile App Is Nearing Its One-Year Anniversary – How Are You Using It?

By Jennifer Davis |

As we approach the one year anniversary of our Schwab mobile app for the iPhone®, we thought we would take a moment to share some interesting information on how people use our mobile apps for the iPhone and Android™. We also want to check in with you to find out how you are using our mobile apps.

Schwab mobile to date:

• More than 530,000 clients have used Schwab’s mobile apps or used their mobile devices to access schwab.com in the past year.
• We’ve seen over 300,000 downloads of the app for the iPhone and 85,000 Android downloads.  These numbers are steadily increasing!
• The average age of Schwab’s mobile app for iPhone user is 48, for Android the average age is 46.

How are people using Schwab mobile?
Most of our clients use the mobile apps to keep an eye on their accounts and the market, as well as news and quotes on stocks. Since the launch of our app for the iPhone, we’ve seen a whopping 26 million views on the Accounts screens--traffic driven entirely by our mobile app users. And while the majority of our Schwab mobile app usage tends to be people seeking to view information rather than take action, many mobile clients do perform banking and brokerage transactions such as trades, transfers and mobile deposits. In fact, trading and mobile deposit are the most popular activities performed on the Schwab mobile app, confirming that our clients want to be able to access to their money anywhere, anytime.

And we’re happy to find that the more our clients use Schwab mobile app, the more they like it. We’ve seen a significant increase (11%!) in client satisfaction with those  who use the mobile app in just the last nine months.

How are you using the apps? What’s your favorite feature? What would you like to see us add or improve?

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

I use it and it is fine, but frankly, an iPad app would be more useful. Not matter how facile you are, it is hard to do any real work or trade on a smart phone.

a quick 4-digit passcode would make accessing the app easier and quicker!

I would like to see a more direct path (fewer screens)in order to get to my destination. I also would like a combo price/chart/ trading function. Thanks!

Let me 2nd William T.'s request for an iPad app. Been pinging the Schwab twitter account for status for quite a while now and the answer is always soon and this year. Only a few weeks left in 2012. :-)

Please Please Please Please create an app for Windows Phone 7 too. I've been dying to use my CS a/c on WP7. BoA has one and currently using it. I would like to use CS a/c from wp7 mobile too so I don't need computer to find my balance. Thanks,

I would like to see a Windows Phone 7.5 + 8 application too! Ignoring that platform would be a foolish mistake.
