It’s been an interesting few weeks!  We just announced our finalists for the “Oh Chuck” contest: www.ohchuckiblewmycash.com.  The contest asked the general public to submit their stories of impulse spending for a chance to win $10,000 in a Schwab brokerage account, and we invited people to vote for their favorites.  The top 20 vote getters are our official finalists, and we’ll announce the winners at the end of July.  (See official rules)

The point of this campaign has been to get people thinking and talking about the financial choices they make.  We’ve all made mistakes, and we hope that adding a little humor to the topic will encourage people to own up to them and think about how to make their money work a little harder for them!

Speaking of the contest, here is a slideshow of photos we took of the Oh Chuck Truck that was cruising around New York City a few weeks back.  This glass-walled truck visited four busy neighborhoods in Manhattan over two days.  Passersby could enter the truck to film and submit their contest submissions right on the spot.  More than 100 people filmed submissions, and a lot more stopped to take pictures of the truck and talk to us about what we were up to. 

 

We’re also getting lots of responses to the original “Oh Chuck! I Blew my Cash” videos (also on our Facebook page and on YouTube), featuring six people telling their true stories of impulse buys to a patient, if slightly exasperated, Chuck Schwab himself.  My favorites are the lady with the masks and the man with the sneaker obsession.  My husband is partial to gold jacket guy.  What are your favorites?
