Are You Seeing Your Complete Financial Picture?
Six photos hang behind Carol Benz's desk at Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough, LLC, Wealth Management. The clear colors of hand-blown glass. The texture of a hand-woven hammock. The landscape of Mexico.
Each photo tells an individual story. But the framed collection forms a much larger picture.
And who was the photographer? Carol Benz.
It’s only fitting for the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Principal of an independent wealth management firm that “sees the complete picture.”
Part of the BOS picture is investment management. While the independent firm provides strategy and direction for its clients' portfolios, it turns to Schwab Advisor Services to custody client assets, execute trades, process dividends… and do so much more.
“Schwab also provides a whole host of additional services such as access to resources, assess to information and access to knowledge that can help us grow as a firm and help our clients grow in the future,” Carol said.
And those services are part of Schwab that many people never see.
Through Advisor Services, Schwab helps nearly 7,000 Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) run their own local, independent firms. Business-to-business services include technology, practice management, benchmarking and networking opportunities.
“We work closely with advisors to determine their business needs and bring the resources and insight to help them manage important challenges within their firm,” said Nick Georgis, vice president of advisor services practice management offering.
Working for an RIA firm “is a very entrepreneurial experience,” Carol added. “We work very collaboratively with one another to decide what our future is going to be, and then it's up to us to actually make that happen. Working with a company like Schwab, which also shares our entrepreneurial beliefs, has been a very wonderful experience.”
May is Financial Planning for Women Month at Schwab, and we'll be featuring women's stories in our #TalkBackTuesday blog posts. Hear Carol Benz's story and add your comments: How do you get a complete picture of your financial needs?
